An anti-war film
All Quiet on the Western Front is an anti-war film, which is directed by Delbert Mann. The main character is Paul Baumer, played by Richard Thomas.
A group of German youths, headed by Paul Baumer, took part in World War I enthusiastically in answer to the patriotic teacher's call. But before they arrived at the frontline, they saw with their own eyes the cruel reality that the war brought about in a hospital for the wounded. After reaching/Having reached the battlefield, they came to realize that the true war is just hunger and death.
Through the experiences of the leading character, the story shows the terribleness of the war. This is a really unforgettable excellent anti-war film.
